Trevalda Mountain Duke

Trevalda Mountain Duke is a very exciting young stallion for sport horse breeders in NZ.

Duke is by Ballineen Blue Mountain – Imp UK by Bealagh Blue (Touch of The Blues) X Ballineen Glen Abbess (Torspark Benedict).

Duke was purpose bred to carry on the legacy of fabulous NZ bred Irish horses that his father had started.

Duke is a combination of the best Irish Draught bloodlines available Worldwide.

Duke’s dam, Richmondlea Delia was bred in Ireland and is by the lengendary Irish Draught stallion Crosstown Dancer. A prolific producer of performace Irish Draughts and himself a Grade A Show Jumper. Delia’s dam Richmondlea Dara was by Mountain Pearl whom was also a Grade A Show jumper before being exported to the USA to stand at Stud over there.

Delia was spotted at the Dublin Royal Show as a foal and was purchased by Australian Irish Draught breeders, Chris and Sue Tufnell of Tullows Stud where she produced fabulous Irish Sport Horses for the Australian market as well as winning Supreme Champion Irish Draught/Irish Sport Horse at the Melbourne Royal Show.

Trevalda Stud purchased Delia and a purebred daughter of her’s and imported them to New Zealand.

Delia has been the top producer of Irish Draughts for Trevalda Stud and when she produced a Ballineen Blue Mountain colt at 20 years of age, this baby Duke was destined to remain entire.

It was obvious from Day one that this colt had all the goods and quality to run on as a Stud stallion. He was uphill, had a fabulous shoulder, was short coupled but leggy and had the people loving temperament right from the start.

Jeremy recognised the beauty in this colt and he already had plenty of knowledge of his super bloodlines so was very excited to snap him up at just a few days old.

We are super pleased with how he is maturing and he is everything we could have hoped for and everything his breeding suggests he should be.
